J.D. Sherley, 74, of Tulia died Friday, December 11, 2009, in Tulia. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 14, 2009, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview with Tony DeLaCruz officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, December 13, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Mr. Sherley was born on April 22, 1935 to William Isaac and Lona Estelle Sherley in Amherst, Texas. He grew up in Amherst and graduated high school there. He worked as a welder and owned J.D.’s Pipe & Supply Co. He was a very honest and hardworking man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Sherley was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Freda Belle Sherley and a sister Billie Flatt. His survivors include his wife, Patsy Sherley of Tulia, four daughters, Sharon Wyatt of Plainview, Jan Ragland & husband Ronny of Lubbock, Marcia Sherley of Lubbock and Jerrivon Thomas & husband Tony of Plainview, one step-daughter, Teresa Topper & husband Keith of Aiken, one step-son, Tony Hill of Amarillo, one brother Mike Sherley of Dallas, seven grandchildren, two step-grandsons and eight great grandchildren.
