Randy Gafford (Tulia)

Turkey, Texas— Randy Gafford, 83, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 in Lockney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, July 3, 2006 in the First Untied Methodist Church in Turkey with Bob Couch, Methodist lay minister officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mr. Gafford was born October 8, 1922 in Turkey. He grew up there and graduated from Turkey High School in 1941. He married Margie Huckaby on April 26, 1942 in Amarillo. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He returned to Turkey and farmed and served as US Postmaster there for several years before moving to Floydada in 1966 and worked as a rural mail carrier until he retired after 36 years with the US Postal Service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Turkey. His Wife Margie died December 7, 2002. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Rhenda and Jimmy Burson of Silverton, Texas, one son and daughter-in-law; Larry and Kathy Gafford of Amarillo, one sister; Jo Copeland of Lubbock, Texas, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
