Odena Melton (Plainview)

Odena Melton, 87 of Plainview passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 in Plainview. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Wayne Horton , pastor of Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Odena was born on May 17, 1922 in Hope, Arkansas. She grew up in Memphis, Texas and graduated from Memphis High School in 1939. She married Dewey Melton on January 1, 1946. They moved to Plainview in 1949 to farm. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the 9th and Columbia Church of Christ, member of Edmonson Church of Christ and the Edmonson Home Demonstration Club. Odena was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Melton; parents, Victor and Eva Yarbrough; brothers, Howard, Alvin, Coy Yarbrough; sister, Una Pearl Yarbrough. Survivors include her three sons, Gary Melton of Lubbock, Weldon Melton and wife Judy of Plainview, Kenny Melton and wife Shelley of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Rob Melton, Ryan Melton, Jared Melton, Kimberlea Brandon, Erin Melton, Bailey Melton, Tucker Melton; and seven great-grandchildren.
