Marie Burton, 78, died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at her residence in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 14, 2006 in the Jackson Chapel with Rev. Melvin Tatum, Rev. Matthew Veals, and Charles Tinner officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mrs. Burton was born on May 26, 1928 in Paducah, Texas. She attened schools there. She married Lee Burton in 1950 in Paducah. They moved to Tulia in 1962. She was a homemaker. She attended Jackson Chapel for many years. She is survived by her husband, Lee Burton of Tulia; a daughter, Darlene North (Hansel Gardner both of Tulia); four Grandchildren, Teresa Tinner of Canyon, Leonard Tinner and Meleshon Tennison of Lubbock, Rodney Tinner and Gabriell March of Amarillo, and Timothy and Deaundes of Amarillo; one great granddaughter, Jade Tinner of Canyon and twelve other great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a sister, Jeanette and William Reed of Waco; and brother-in-law, Fred Freeman of Waco. Preceded in death by four brothers, T.C. Rockquemore, Willie G. Cole, Ray Rockquemore, and Bill Rockquemore; and two sisters, Ana Freeman and Johnnie Mae Black. The family suggest memorials to B.S.A. Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
