L.R. Gandy (Plainview)

L.R. Gandy, 91, of Plainview, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Monday, February 8, 2010, at the funeral home. Mr. Gandy was born on December 10, 1918, in Buckholt, Texas, to Nannie Bell and Richard Gandy. He married Pauline James on May 10, 1942, in Clovis, NM; she preceded him in death on December 10, 1992. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was farmer from 1945 to 1989. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a son, James Gandy and a grandson, Wayne Gandy. Survivors include a son, Vance Gandy and wife Glenda of Plainview, TX, one brother, Elree Gandy of Ruidoso, NM, grandchildren, David Gandy and Mary O’Neill of Plainview, TX, Karan Shomaker and husband Tom of Amarillo, TX and Brian Gandy and Jenni Brown of Ft. Worth, TX and a great grandson, Bryson Shomaker. Memorial contributions may be made to College Heights Baptist Church, 802 Quincy St., Plainview, TX 79072.
