Tulia, Texas— Louvenia Kimbell, 91, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the 6th & Gaines Church of Christ with Elgin Conner officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm in the Quitaque Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Louvenia was born November 21, 1918 in Fairmont, Texas to Neal and Birtie Lee Smith. She grew up in Fairmont and attended schools there until the 10th grade when she attended Quitaque High School and graduated in 1936. She married James Kimbell on June 20, 1936. They farmed at Fairmont until 1964 when they moved into Quitaque and operated the Kimbell Drive Inn & Café. She was a member of the Church of Christ. They moved to Tulia in 1994. Mr. Kimbell died September 29, 1994. Survivors include four daughters: Betty Mabry and husband JC, Jr. of Tulia, Cathryn Conner and husband Elgin of Levelland, Birtie Brunson and husband Bobby of Kress and Mary Helen Berry of Tulia, one son: James Lynn Kimbell and wife Patty of Estelline, one sister: Ruby Willoughby of Kingman, Arizona, 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 29 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother; Neal Gordon Smith, Jr., two sisters; Annie Lee McBee and Bessie Bell Schafer, a son-in-law; David Setliff, a grandson; Michael Paul Setliff and a great grandson; Christopher Todd Setliff. A visitation will be held from 6:30 -8:00 pm Monday, February 8, 2010 at the funeral home.
