Tulia, Texas—Bernardino “Bert” Cordova, Jr., 82, died Friday, February 26, 2010 in Tulia. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, February 28, 2010 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 1, 2010 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Fernando Ruga officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Cordova was born March 27, 1927 in Mosquero, NM. He grew up and graduated high school there. He served in the US Air Force during WWII. He married Pauline “Pola” Montoya on January 3, 1957 in Roy, NM. They moved to Tulia in 1968. He worked for Taylor-Evans Seed Company in Tulia for 24 years as warehouse foreman. He was a member of the Tulia VFW and American Legion and the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. Survivors include his wife: Pauline “Pola” Cordova of Tulia, three daughters: Susie Cordova of Ft. Smith, AR, Florence Cordova of Amarillo and Lucy Cordova of Tulia, two sons: Norman Cordova and Archie Cordova, both of Amarillo, one brother: Zach Cordova of El Segundo, CA, two sisters: Bernice Paiz of Albuquerque, NM and Aurora Santostefano of Middleton, Conn. 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by three sons: William Cordova, Gerald Cordova and Alfredo Cordova.
