Israel Leija, Jr.(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Israel Leija, Jr., 24, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in Canyon. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 27, 2010 in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Gilbert Del Toro, pastor of The Church of the Comforter officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm Friday, March 26, 2010 at the funeral home. Israel was born March 18, 1986 in Tulia. He grew up here and attended Tulia Schools. He was working for John Herring Farms. He is survived by his father and step-mother: Israel and Amelia Leija of Tulia, his mother: Beatrice Luna of Plainview, two daughters: J’Lynn Marie Leija and Bella Faith Leija both of Tulia, one son: J’Ven Richard Leija of Tulia, six brothers: Victor Leija of Austin, Junior Leija of Dallas, Sidney Leija of Dallas, Luz Leija of California, Wilbert Arreguin of Tulia and Christian Leija of Tulia, five sisters: Peggy Leija of Dallas, Irma Leija of Amarillo, Esmeralda Leija of Plainview, Gracie Leija Hollenstein of Amarillo, and Araceli Torres of Tulia, his grandfather: Bill Luna of Amarillo. He is preceded in death by a sister: Cynthia Luna and his grandparents: Luz and Ricarda Leija and Luceal Cantu.
