Claytonville, Texas—Edwin McCoy Stark, 79, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 29, 2010 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia with Rev. Richard Edwards of Lubbock officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 P.M. at the funeral home in Tulia. Edwin was born on November 9, 1930 in Claytonville, Texas to Barney and Grace Stark. He attended schools in Price and then in Kress. He farmed and ranched his whole life and cattle were his passion. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kress and was also a member of the Claytonville Rough Riders and rode with the Pony Express. He married Shirley Sims on January 4, 1960 in Tyler, Texas. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Claytonville; three daughters, Cindy Carothers and husband Tommy of Tulia, Sharon Helton of Claytonville, Kathie Gorman and husband Kenneth of Peasant View, Colorado; one son, Kenny Helton of Amarillo; sister, Dathene Vineyard and husband James of Kress; two brothers, Argel Stark and wife Virginia of Claytonville, Bobbie Stark of Tulia; seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Stark; son, Charles Helton; parents, Barney and Grace Stark; two sisters, Bernice Stark, Louise Stark; two brothers, L.D. Stark, Frank Stark; and a grandson, Dusty Helton.
