Opal Inez Yarbrough, 94, of Plainview passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 12, 2010 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Weldon Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 P.M., Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the funeral home. Opal was born on November 22, 1915 in Hope, Arkansas to James and Lila Widener. She spent her childhood in Arkansas and Oklahoma but mainly grew up in Memphis and graduated from high school there. She attended Business College in Wichita Falls. She worked as a bookkeeper for a Cotton Buyer for several years before she married Alvin Durwood Yarbrough in 1941. She was homemaker after they had their children. She was a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ and a member of R.S.V.P. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; a son, Alvin Larry Yarbrough; and four brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Bradford of Plainview; seven grandchildren, Terry Clark of Plainview, Montie Clark of Plainview, Kelly Yarbrough of Plainview, Kristie Richardson of Amarillo, Kayna Cardy of Plainview, Tammy Knox of Plainview, Karla Crawford of Lubbock; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild.
