Evelyn Mote (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas— Evelyn Mote, 83, died Thursday, August 31, 2006 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 4:30pm Saturday, September 2, 2006 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. James Hassell, pastor and Rev. Charles Davenport, retired baptist minister officiating, burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. She was born October 10, 1922 in Milam Co., Texas. She attended schools at Conway and then the Love Community School in Swisher County until her junior year when she attended Tulia High School. She graduated THS in 1940. She married Ewell E. Mote on February 2, 1941 in Tulia. She worked for the Swisher County Extension office for over 30 years before she retired in 1990. She was a member of the Home Artist Study Club, the Rebekkah Lodge, the Red Hat Club and First Baptist Chruch. She was on the Library Board and the Museum Board. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Marilyn and Harvey Foster of Tulia and Mary Jane and Ron Cromer of Borger, one son and daughter-in-law; Weldon and Carolyn Mote of Tulia, one sister; Carolyn Cobb of Tulia, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ewell E. Mote and a grandson, J. Brett Foster. Memorials may be made to the J.
