Ferne Vise (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Ferne Vise, 84, died Sunday, September 3, 2006 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, September 6, 2006 in with First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport, retired Baptist minister, officiating, Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview and Rev. Drew Travis, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Plainview assisting. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mrs. Vise was born December 16, 1921 in Hemphill Co. where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from the San Jacinto Beauty School in Amarillo. She married Murry Vise, Sr. on December 10, 1939. He died September 19, 2003. They farmed in Hemphill Co. before moving to Swisher Co. in 1948. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia for 51 years where she was the Sunday school director and teacher, and the WMU Director for many years. She was an avid gardener and grew dahlias for the First Baptist Church in Tulia for many years. She was a life member of the Texas Congress of Parent Teachers. She was the Program Director for the Swisher Co. Senior Volunteer Program until she moved to Plainview in 2001. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview since 2001. She loved to visit with her great grandsons. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Janice and Jim Posey of Plainview, Texas and Sharon and Paul Pieplow of El Paso, Texas, one son; Murry Vise, Jr. of Big Spring, Texas, two brothers; R.E. George of Canadian, Texas and Bill George of Conroe, Texas, three granddaughters and their husbands; Jana Lynn and Lt. Col. Bradford J. Lord of Peachtree City, Georgia, Jeana D’Lynn and Vaughnie Voss of Plainview, Texas and Paula and Jason Zona of Las Vegas, Nevada and two great grandsons; James Bradford Lord of Peachtree City, Georgia and Brendan Carl Voss of Plainview, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Remodeling Fund, First Baptist Church, 101 N. Crosby, Tulia, Texas 79088 or to the Soroptimist Happy Feet, P.O. Box 1807, Plainview, Texas 79072.
