Tulia, Texas—Rafael Luna Salazar, Sr., 77, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 20, 2010 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gilbert Del Toro, pastor of the Church of the Comforter officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. He was born August 7, 1932 in Placenton, TX to Nickolas and Sarah Barron Luna Salazar. He lived in Tulia all his life and farmed. He met Martha Ramirez in Lamesa and married her on April 13, 1950 in Hobbs, NM. . She passed away in 2002. Survivors include 5 sons: Rafael Salazar, Jr., Johnny Salazar and Bennito Salazar, all of Tulia, Alfredo Salazar of Little Rock, Arkansas and Nick Salazar of Odessa, 4 daughters: Cruz Martinez, JoAnn Martinez, Sandra Cruz and Teresa Lujan, all of Odessa, one sister: Anita Mireles, 33 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 2 great, great granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Elias Salazar, Alejandro Salazar and Erasmo Salazar, one sister: Ermina Delarosa, one daughter; Amalia Salazar.
