Betty L. Royal (Plainview)

Betty Lee Royal, 85, of Plainview passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 P.M. Betty was born on September 14, 1924 in Fletcher, Oklahoma. She grew up in Fletcher and in Muleshoe. She married Lawrence A. Royal on January 18, 1949 in Clovis, New Mexico. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed baking for the public and she was a charter member of the Creative Quilters Club in Plainview. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She was also a member of the McDonald's Breakfast Group. She loved traveling in their travel trailer and playing golf. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Royal in 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dwight Royal; daughter, Sharon June Thorne; three brothers, James Peace, Charles Peace, Bobby Peace; sister, Joyce Peace. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Waller and husband R.W. of Hale Center; son, L.A. Royal and wife Karen of Edmonson; daughter-in-law, Barbara Royal of San Angelo; brother, Tom Peace of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Alyene Wright of Garland, Maxene Trammel of Odessa; 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to College Heights Baptist Church.
