Barbara Berner (Tulia)

Kress, Texas— Barbara Berner, 97, died Sunday, September 17, 2006 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 22, 2006 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Barbara was born on November 15, 1908 in Abilene, Texas. She spent almost her whole life in Swisher County before moving to Lubbock in February 2006. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lutheran Church. She married John C. Berner on October 3, 1927 in Kress. He preceded her in death in 1970. Survivors include two daughters, Bernice Shuping and Allene Haygood both of Lubbock; two sisters, Magdalene Young and Bertha James; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Berner and Herbert Berner; five brothers, Tony, Louis, Frank, Pete, and Johnny Barbian.
