Tulia, Texas- James H. Adams, 95, passed away on October 2, 2006 in Lubbock, Texas. Services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the First Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Charles Davenport officiating and Rev. James Hassell assisting. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Adams was born September 26, 1911 in Childress, Texas. His family moved to Swisher County in 1916. He attended schools in the area including the Houston country school house. After graduating from high school he attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1941. He volunteered to join the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 and served during WWII. After his service he returned to Tulia where he farmed and ranched for 50 years. He also had a dairy for some time. He married Sue Sandal on March 13, 1954 in Plainview. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Survivors include his wife Sue Adams of Tulia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Tom Bell of Tyler, Texas, Mary and Tommy Riney of Ft. Worth, Texas, Beverly and Danny James of Plainview; four brothers, W.O. Adams of San Angelo, Udell Adams of Petersburg, J.K. Adams of Muleshoe, Kenneth Adams of Fredricksburg; two sisters, Adell Soots of Georgia, and Glenna Rodden of Floydada; Nine Grandchildren, Eight Great Grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Several Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by a son, Bobby Eastham; two brothers, Jack Adams and Dwight Adams. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
