Jake Wilson (Plainview)

Jake Wilson, 89, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in Lubbock. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Trinity Fellowship Church with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home Jake was born on March 20, 1921 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Jacob and Grace Wilson. He grew up there and graduated from Frederick High School in 1939. He and his brother formed a trucking business after high school. He enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corps. and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He returned home after the war and continued operating the trucking business. He also started working in the grain business and operated grain elevators for three decades. He was a member of the Trinity Fellowship Church. He married Betty J. Hudson on January 3, 1942 in Frederick, Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Betty Wilson of Plainview; four children, Larry Wilson and wife Gwyn of Plainview, Patty Taylor of Plainview, Marc Wilson and wife Carolyn of Austin, Richard Wilson and wife Rosie of Richmond; 8 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rita Rose Young and VistaCare Hospice for their extraordinary care of Jake.
