Grady Elmer Murry peacefully passed into the loving arms of his Savior and Lord on July 23, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born in Gatesville, Texas on April 25, 1931 to Homer Lee and Nancy Murry. Grady graduated from Stephenville High School in 1948 and served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. In February 1953, Grady married Sammie Ellis in O’Brien, Texas. She passed away in 2001. In June 2004, he married Donna Womble in Plainview, Texas. Grady was a successful farmer in the Hale County/Edmonson area from 1954 until retirement in 1999. He was an active member and previous President of the Hale County Farm Bureau, member of the “Pastor’s Class” and First Baptist Church of Plainview. During his lifetime, he enjoyed fishing, flying, water skiing, rodeos, meeting people, a good “Western” movie, and drinking coffee with friends. In his retirement, he enjoyed vacationing and traveling to spend time with his family. Grady was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. He will be greatly missed by each of them. He leaves behind a wife Donna, three sons and daughter-in-laws and two daughters and son-in-law; Kevin and Nancy Murry of Manhattan, KS; Reed and Trina Murry of LaPorte, TX; and Kelly and Cindy Murry of Dallas, TX; Tanya Bedford of Plainview, TX; Julie and Jimmy Kelly of Plainview, TX. Grandchildren include Sara, Rebecca, Connor, Collin, Jeremy, Hagen, Courtney and great granddaughter Skyler. His loving sisters include Tina Moore of Lipan, TX; Pauline Cameron of Granbury, TX; Lola and Roy Wesson of Granbury, TX. Other family members include, Bea Ellis, David Ellis, Pleas and Sandra Childress, and numerous nieces and nephews. Grady is preceded in death by his first wife Sammie, his parents, and two sisters, Hazel Murdick and Eva Lee Patterson. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 26, 2010, in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Plainview, with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will be Monday afternoon in O’Brien Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation for family and friends will be from 3-5 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home.
