Doris Jeane McMillan, “Mama Jeane”, 81, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in Plainview. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 30, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Brock officiating and Dr. Travis Hart assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. McMillan was born on July 16, 1929 in Spur to George D. and Lena Mae Nichols Potts. She married Elmer Denzil McMillan on September 8, 1949 in McAdoo. She graduated from McAdoo High School in 1946. She entered Lubbock Memorial’s School of Nursing in 1946. Mrs. McMillan trained in pediatrics and psychiatry at John Sealey Hospital in Galveston. She was in the graduating class of September 1949. Jeane and Denzil moved to Plainview in 1956 where she continued her nursing career at Medical Center Hospital. Mrs. McMillan was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was involved in the church’s Hope Circle. She was a member of the LaCasa Club, Birthday Club and often volunteered at F.I.S.H. She was also an active member of the Women’s Division of the Chamber of Commerce and a long time supporter of the Optimist Baseball Program. Jeane was Women of the Year in 1995 and was a Holiday Tree of Hope honoree benefitting the American Cancer Society in 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband: Denzil McMillan; her parents and one sister: Georgia Margrite. She is survived by two sons: Ronnie McMillan and wife Dawn of Frisco and Tommy McMillan and wife Susan of Plainview; four grandchildren: Brett & Jill McMillan of Frisco, Lori & Capt. James Johnston of Newport News, VA., Lance McMillan of Dallas and Chance & Kelsey McMillan of Plainview and five great grandchildren: Rileigh and Madeline Johnston of Newport News, VA., Grayson McMillan of Plainview and Lawson and Holt McMillan of Frisco.
