Emma Lou Newman (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Emma Lou Newman, 88, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2006 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Jay Simpson, pastor of Aiken First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Emma Lou Mullins was born August 11, 1918 in Childress Co., Texas. She grew up in Lockney and Floydada and moved to Tulia in 1938. She married Charles R. Newman on August 27, 1938 in Clovis, NM. She had worked in the Tulia ISD as a cafeteria worker for 20 years. She retired and became a full time homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Newman died March 21, 1999. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law; Delbert and Ellaine Newman of Tulia, Texas and Charles Newman of Montgomery, Texas, one sister; Bonnie McLain of Kingsland, Texas, 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
