Channelview, Texas - Marjorie Ruth Cox, 84, formerly of Ruidoso, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday October 21, 2006 in Houston, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia, Texas at 2:00 P.M. under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mrs. Cox was born September 12, 1922 in Hemphill County, TX. She attended schools in the area and graduated from Allison High School as Valedictorian. She attended West Texas State University for two years where she met H.L. Cox. They were married in Clovis, N.M. on June 8, 1941. They lived in Amarillo for several years before moving to Pecos. She worked there as a substitute teacher and library aide for many years. They retired to Ruidoso, NM. For the last few years she has lived with her daughter in Channelview, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.L. Cox, in 2002. Survivors include her daughter, Kay Boyd and her husband John of Channelview, TX; a son, Ralph Cox and his wife Carla of San Saba, TX; four grandsons, John D. Boyd and wife Tonya of Brookside Village, TX, Terry Boyd and wife Amra of Atlanta, GA, Michael Cox and wife Blanca of San Antonio, TX, Gregory Cox and wife Shauna of Bryan, TX; six great grandchildren, Brittany and Michael Cox of San Antonio, Darcy and Brianne Boyd of Brookside Village, and Grace and Shayne Cox of Bryan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Make a Wish Foundation or other charity as desired.
