Ruth Johnson (Plainview)

Ruth Johnson, 73, of Plainview passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Joseph Johnson, pastor of Faith Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation for family and friends will be from 7 to 8:30 P.M., Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson was born December 6, 1936 in Roby, Texas to Robert and Zora McCutchan. They moved to Sweetwater when she was five and she attended schools there. She graduated from Newman High School there in Sweetwater. She attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield Missouri. That is where she met her husband of 54 years, Maurice Johnson. They married on June 23, 1956 in San Angelo, Texas. They moved to Plainview in 1990. She was a homemaker and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Maurice Johnson of Plainview; a daughter, Marci Johnson and husband Joseph of Plainview; two sons, Russell Johnson and wife Patti of Summerville, South Carolina, Joe Johnson and wife Delia of Lockney, Texas; 10 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Zora McCutchan; a son, James Richard Johnson; three brothers, James William McCutchan, Joe Mac McCutchan, Robert Kenneth McCutchan.
