Pauline Barrett (Plainview)

Pauline Barrett, 89, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview with Kim Hays, nephew officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Barrett was born on July 7, 1921, in Sterley, Texas, to Earnest and Dorietta Woody Hays. She graduated from Lockney High School in 1940. She married S.A. Barrett in 1948 in Plainview. They moved to Swisher County where they lived and farmed since 1948. Pauline worked in a Defense Plant making bombs during World War II. She was a longtime member of Garland Street Church of Christ and will be remembered for her free lunches. She loved yard work and loved her family and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her children, Steve Barrett and wife Lillie of Kress, Mike Barrett and wife Doris of Edmonson, Gayleen Barrett of Morrison, Colorado and Jill Hendricks and husband Randy of Mansfield; two brothers, Paul Hays of Kress and Harvey Hays of Plainview; her grandchildren, Alex Barrett and wife Robyn, Melissa Wendling and husband Shawn, Marka Fikes and husband Paul, Christie Zingerman and husband Jason, Travis Barrett and wife Staci, Toni Ayres and husband Bill and Cody Barrett and wife Memoree, seven great grandchildren and three on the way. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 S. Western St., Amarillo, Texas 79118 or to Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Rd, Ste. C, Plainview, Texas 79072.
