Eula Taylor Adams (Plainview)

EULA TAYLOR ADAMS Eula Taylor Adams, affectionately known as Granny T, went home to her heavenly reward on Saturday, September 18, 2010. Funeral services are scheduled at Colonial Baptist Church on Monday, September 20, at 10:30 a.m. with former pastor, Dr. Carl Moman and Danny Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah at 3 pm, under direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mrs. Adams was born on January 2, 1917 to Fred and Avery Crabtree Beavers in Gainesville, TX. Her mother died when she was 18 months old. In 1920, she moved to Paducah, TX, where she was raised by her father and stepmother, Minnie Beavers. She married Gordon Taylor on October 6, 1934 in Paducah and they had five children. Gordon passed away on August, 10, 1964. A widow at the age of 47 and as a single mother, to support her family, Mrs. Adams worked at a garment factory in Childress and was a nurse’s aide at the hospital and nursing home in Paducah. She moved to Plainview in January, 1972, to be near her daughter and youngest son who was attending Wayland. She was employed at Page’s Thriftway Grocery Store, retiring in 1985. Prior to her moving to Plainview, she was active in the Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah and when she moved to Plainview, was a charter member of Colonial Baptist Church. At both churches, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and more than occasionally served as choir director. Mrs. Adams loved to sew and did alterations for the public and for more than a dozen Miss Wayland contestants as they prepared for the Miss Texas Pageant. In June, 1988, Eula married Hubert Adams, her childhood sweetheart. He passed away in September, 1988. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, a son, three brothers, her sister and a great grandson. Among her survivors are her daughter, Freda Provence and husband, Joe, of Plainview; her sons, Gordon Taylor, of Childress; Claudy Taylor and wife,Tonya, of Childress; and Jim Taylor of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marie Taylor of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews. The family expresses appreciation and gratitude to the administration and staff at the Prairie House Living Center for their generous love and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Wayland Friends of Music, Wayland Baptist University #644, Plainview, TX 79072. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 3:30-5 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Home.
