Arch Boggess(Tulia)

Tulia Texas—Arch Finley Boggess, 97, of Steelville, MO and Tulia, TX was born March 16, 1913 to Dixie Frank Boggess, Sr. and Bertie Mae Ashley Boggess in Meigs Co., TN. He passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in Steelville, MO. Arch married Pearl Elizabeth Hill in Decatur, TN in January of 1933 and to this union 5 children were born. Pearl passed away in 1979 and Arch later married Hattie Richmond in Memphis, TX. He was one of the first workers to be hired for the Civil Conservation Corp. (CCC) in Tennessee. He later moved to Tulia, TX where he was a rancher and farmer. He then worked there for 30 years and retired from Swisher Gas Co. where he earned several distinguished safe driving awards He also owned and operated a mobile home park for several years. His hobbies were scuba diving, fishing, camping, woodworking and listening to blue grass music. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Pearl, daughter; Dessie Louise Ray, son-in-law; David Armontrout, daughter-in-law; Lottie Boggess, 1 sister and 5 brothers. He is survived by his wife: Hattie Boggess of Nevada, MO, his children: Shirley Armontrout of Tulia, TX, Geri Harman and husband Wyatte of Temple, TX, Joe Boggess and wife Shirley of Plato, MO, Venita Yengel and husband Tom of St. Louis, MO, and Dixie Frank Boggess, III of Anchorage, AK, a son-in-law: Gene Ray of Cuba, MO, stepchildren; Frankie Richmond, Ike Richmond and wife Vicky, and Jake Richmond all of Nevada, MO, 10 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 16 great, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. A private family service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO. Funeral arrangements in MO are under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia, TX at 10:00 AM with Rev. Eddie Helms, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Claude Cemetery in Claude, TX under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
