Edith England (Plainview)

Edith England, 84, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006 at College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Don Robertson, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. England was born on March 5, 1920 in Afton, Texas. She grew up there in Afton, Texas, which is in Dickens County and graduated from Patton Springs High School. She attended Wayland Baptist College and West Texas State. She married Wilburn England on October 13, 1940 in Plainview. She taught school for one year before working with her husband. They owned and operated England’s Wholesale for many years in Plainview. She has been a member of the College Heights Baptist Church since the 1940’s and taught Sunday school for many years. Survivors include her husband, Wilburn England of Plainview; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Bob Ashton of League City, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Nelson and Catherine England of Austin, Texas; one brother, Dee Baxter of Derby, Kansas; one sister, Nora Barnett of Portland, Texas; three grandchildren, Mark Ashton, Sarah England Sampson, and Lezle Gustafson; and Five Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Sam and May Baxter; Four Brothers, Paul, Johnie, Leo, and Sidney Baxter; Five Sisters, Anna Rodrigues, Lizzie Lou Bridge, Della Jackson, Doris Gather, and Lena Baxter.
