Mary Oralia Godsey (Plainview)

Mary Oralia Godsey, 82, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010, in Plainview. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at First Baptist Church with her son Pastor Lynn Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A memorial service will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Godsey was born on November 24, 1927 in Cerrillos, New Mexico to Jose and Elena Felix. She grew up and attended schools there. She married Glen E. Godsey on December 28, 1945 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was a homemaker and a pastor’s wife for 62 years. She taught Sunday school for 64 years. She served as the President of the State of Texas Women’s Missionary Union (Union Femanil Missionera Bautista) for 4 years in the Hispanic Covencion Bautista. She also served as the Woman at Large for 2 years and one term as Vice President. She served one two year term as the President’s Wife to the Mexican Baptist Convention of Texas. She traveled throughout Mexico and Texas as a Missionary. She was a Spiritual Mother to thousands of people. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Glen E. Godsey of Plainview; a son, Pastor Lynn Godsey of Ennis, Texas; three daughters, Yolanda Rodriguez, Corina Caveness, and Betty Godsey all of Plainview; one grandson, Marshall Godsey of Ennis, Texas; three granddaughters, Tanya Godsey Gilmore of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Nacol Chavez of Plainview, Jodi Ramos of Ft. Stewart, Georgia; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen and Mary Godsey Love Fund, c/o HCSB, 201 W. 6th, Plainview, Texas 79072.
