Claude May, Jr., 82, of Plainview passed away on November 5, 2010 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Garland Street Church of Christ with Mr. Steve Stokes officiating and Mr. J.W. Hanby assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. May was born May 10, 1928 in Plainview to the late Claude Sr. and Ruby May. He grew up in Plainview and attended schools here. He Graduated from Plainview High in 1946. He was in the U.S. Marines for two years and later attended Wayland Baptist University and North Texas State in Denton. Mr. May was the manager at Whites Grocery for several years before going into business for himself. He owned Butcher Boy Meat Company where he sold meat retail and wholesale. In 1984 he retired and sold Real Estate for Cartwright Inc. He was a member and a volunteer for Garland Street Church of Christ. He was involved in International Bible Study, Benevolent work, and was the treasurer and bookkeeper. He was also a Bible Teacher, Deacon, and an Elder. He was preceded in death by his son: Claude Scott May and his brother Doyle May. Survivors include his wife: Ellen Jean May; daughter: Debra Sheets and husband Randy; one brother, Gordon May and his wife Janith; four grandchildren: Jennifer House and husband Yancey of Abilene, Jeff Sheets and wife Elena of Lubbock, Greg May of Plainview, Cristy Crump and husband Cory of Granbury; and four great grandchildren.
