Mildred Childress(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Mildred Childress, 104, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the funeral home. Susie Mildred Freeman was born July 27, 1906 in Melbourne, Arkansas to R.A. and Maude Freeman. She moved to the Lakeview Community in 1910. She graduated Tulia High School in 1925. She married A.M. “Dutch” Childress on December 31, 1927. They farmed until 1975 when Dutch retired and they moved into Tulia. She was a housewife and a member of 6th & Gaines Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter: Geneva McCollie, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Survivors include one son: Don L. Childress of Tulia, one sister: Mattie Hobbs of Reserve, NM, one brother: Mack Freeman of Utah, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
