Tulia, Texas—Nevell Waggoner was born October 5, 1930 to Raymond and Viola Fisher in Winters, Texas. She grew up in Winters and graduated from Winters High School. Her family farmed. Nevell worked for Heidenheimer’s Department store in Winters from 1947 to 1967. Nevell married N. D. Waggoner on June 3, 1962. They moved to Tulia, TX in 1967 where Nevell was a housewife and then went to work for the local cable office. She then worked for the City of Tulia tax office for several years. Nevell was a member of the Church of Christ in Winters and a member of the Sisters in Christ Bible group in Tulia. She was president of the Winters V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and was a senior sponsor of the Winters Volunteer Fire Department. She was a very active wife of the Tulia Masonic Lodge and always enjoyed cooking and serving for her husband and other members. Nevell loved fishing, gardening and any other activity that took her outside. She loved to sew and she enjoyed her dogs. She is preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Viola Fisher, a sister: Lola Fay Benson, three brothers: Loyce, Rex, and Max Fisher and two children: Dee Lynn and Jerry Waggoner. Nevell is survived by her husband: N.D. Waggoner of Tulia, two daughters: Tawnya McLurin of Justin, Texas and Laura Tanner of San Angelo, Texas, several grandchildren and one great grandchild. Nevell passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia, Texas.
