James Gandy Landtroop (Plainview

James Gandy Landtroop, 94, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Doug Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2010, at the funeral home. Mr. Landtroop was born on November 9, 1916, in Bosque County, Texas to Eddy Lee and Nola Etta Gandy Landtroop. He married Eva Luthene McAnally in 1936 in Plainview. They were married for almost 65 years. His sweetheart preceded him in death in 2001. James was a lifelong farmer. He was a very active member of the First Church of the Nazarene. James was the Sunday School Superintendent, served on the Board, building Committee, was song leader and sang with men’s quartet for many years. He also received the Distinguished Service Award from the denomination. He loved this family and his grandchildren were his greatest delight. He had many friends and his nieces and nephews loved their Uncle Jamie. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by a daughter, Becky Yates & husband Doug of Plainview; a son, Rick Landtroop & life partner Jeff Zielny of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Esther Marie Graham & husband Calvin of Olton and Jewel Henderson & husband Willard of Bethany, OK; two grandchildren, Beau Yates & wife Amy and Boyd Yates; one great granddaughter, Eowyn Yates and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2610 W. 20th St., Plainview, Texas 79072.
