Kress, Texas—Funeral services for Louie Strange, 65, of Kress will be held Monday, November 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Kress Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Fuller, former pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Strange died Friday, November 26, 2010 in a train collision north of Finney. Louie was born March 21, 1945 in Tulia to Ernest and Ollie Strange. He grew up in Silverton where he graduated from Silverton High School in 1963. He married Mary Monroe in Silverton on June 5, 1964. They moved to Kress one week after their marriage where he worked for the Kress Elevator, Kress Farmers Elevator and Evans Grain. He began farming and ranching in 1992. He was serving as the president of the board of Swisher Co-Op Gin, a member of the Driskill House Board and the Tule Lake Golf Course Board. He was a former member of the Kress City Council, Kress Volunteer Fire Department, Kress Lions Club and the Swisher County RSVP. He coached Little Dribblers and Little League Baseball teams for many years, he emceed the Kress Stock Show for the past several years, he was a member of Kress Baptist Church, he was an avid golfer and he loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Mary; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dwain and Shana Strange of Kress, Darrell Strange and Michael Fowler of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; three grandchildren, Hagen, Kenzie and Krese, all of Kress; two sisters, Ernestine Barnes of Tulia, Joy Reeves of Lockney; and one brother, Bud Strange of Claude. Pallbearers will be Jackie Scott, Albert Espinoza, James Cathey, Buddy Vineyard, Brent Tye, Jeff Reed, Steve Carlisle and Jimmy Durham. The family suggests donations to the Kress Cemetery or a favorite charity.
