Petersburg, Texas – Gladys Groce, 86, of Petersburg passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Kerry Groce officiating, and Rev. Tom Griffin assisting. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Groce was born on March 26, 1920 in Byrdstown, Tennessee to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth and Minnie Lou Coe. She grew up in Byrdstown and attended schools there. They moved to Petersburg in 1939. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. She also served as a Church hostess and G.A. Leader. She married Ray Groce on February 11, 1938 in Byrdstown, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1996. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gaylord and Sammie Groce of Petersburg; three brothers, Charles Coe of Akron, Ohio, Henry Coe of Wayne, Michigan, Bill Coe of Cookeville, Tennessee; three sisters, Joyce Huddleston of Muncy, Indiana, Kay Dyer of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Janice Eaton, of Easley, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Gray Lynn McClelland of Olney, TX, Michelle Price of Keller, TX; and four great grandchildren, Lyndsey and Hayden McClelland and Justin and Jackson Price. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
