Melton Ray Ballard, 79, of Plainview, passed away at 6:55 p.m. Monday, December 25, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006 in the chapel of Kornerstone Funeral Directors with Rev. D.E. Buchanan retired minister officiating and Rev. Tracy McWilliams assisting. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Ballard was born on March 27, 1927 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Samuel Lee and Stella Luttrel Ballard. He married Elsie Lucille Adams on February 22, 1945 in Hollis, Oklahoma. He was employed by Gifford Hill Machinery for 5 years and owner/operator of Ballard & Sons Garage for over 30 years. He was a member and served as deacon of Southside Assembly of God Church for several years. He is survived by his wife: Lucille Ballard of Plainview; two sons: Frank Ballard and Fred Ballard both of Houston; three daughters: Linda Gould, Rida Cate and Sandy Eden all of Plainview; one brother: Willie Ballard of Plainview; one sister: Claire Jane Gehardt of Honey Grove; 15 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
