A. C. George (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas— A.C. George, 65, of Amarillo, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2007 in the First Baptist Church in Tulia with Rev. Micah Meurer, pastor of River Road Baptist Church officiating and Rev. James Hassell, pastor of First Baptist Church in Tulia assisting. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. He was born August 1, 1941 in Tulia and lived here most of his life. When he was very young he started to rodeo and when he joined the RCA Rodeo Association, as a bull rider, he was the youngest member in the world. George worked for Jewel Avent on the old Rogers ranch then later became a jockey in Ruidoso, NM. He went on to become a race horse trainer and breeder. During his rodeo days, he was a mechanic for Cosby Motors and occasionally did concrete work for Paul Simmons. Later he became a masonry contractor and owned ADC Vending Company for awhile. He wants to be remembered smiling. Survivors include four sons; Dusty George of Tulia, Cliff George of Canyon, and Colton George of Lubbock and Trey George, one sister; Treva Murrell of Tulia and 5 grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Second Chance Champions Foundations, 301 Amarillo Blvd., Suite 200, Amarillo, TX.
