Tulia, Texas— Carl W. “Bill” Jones, 85, died Saturday, February 17, 2007 in Tulia. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, February 21, 2007 in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ernie McGaughey, retired Methodist Minister officiating under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Jones was born May 1, 1921 in Swisher County to Mary Ellen and William Riley Jones. He attended schools at Salem, Wayside and Tulia where he graduated from high school in 1939. He served in the US Army during WWII after which he owned and operated Bill’s Beauty Shop in Tulia since 1946. He married Mildred Jones on July 30, 1956 in Clovis, NM. She died Dec. 19, 1990 in Plainview. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother; Jack, a sister; Dorothy, two half brothers; Dover and Ben Pearson, two grandchildren; Scott and January Thompson. Survivors include a step-daughter; Carolyn Pearson of Cottonwood, Arizona, a grandson; John Pearson of Phoenix, Arizona and 3 nephews; Allen Jones of Denver, Colorado, Ronnie Moon of Amarillo, TX and Mike Mon of Tyler, TX, a niece; Yvonne Kahn of Statesboro, Georgia. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he taught the Friendship Adult Sunday School Class of 35 years, a member of the Tulia VFW and a member of the Tulia Senior Citizens.
