Tulia, Texas— Walter Ray Allen, 55, died Sunday, March 4, 2007 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, March 8, 2007 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Melvin Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Allen was born January 14, 1952. He grew up in Plainview. He was a truck driver and he served in the US Army. He married Betty Strickland on December 25, 1995 in Tulia. Survivors include his wife; Betty Allen of Tulia, 3 daughters; Laquisha Allen of Tulia, Monica Yarbrough of Plainview, Brandy Yarbrough of Plainview, 2 sons; Colin Yarbrough of Plainview and Mitchell Ray Hearn of Atlanta, Georgia, 5 step-daughters; Neva Yarbrough of Plainview, Ronetta Strickland of Tulia, Ramona Strickland of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sophia Strickland of Tulia, Shelia Strickland of Amarillo, 3 step-sons; Kenneth Allen of Pampa, Jonathan Yarbrough of Boyce City, Oklahoma, Frederick Strickland of Beaumont, 3 brothers; William Horace Allen, Jr. of Plainview, Johnny Lee Allen of Des Moines, Iowa and Cornelius Allen of Lubbock, one sister; Bonita Allen of Wichita Falls and 19 grandchildren.
