Tulia, Texas-Alfred E. “Buck” McKone, 87, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 12, 2018 in the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ernie McGaughey and Rev. Tommy Ewing officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Alfred was born on August 17, 1930 in Tulia to George W. and Mary E. McKone. He grew up here and graduated Tulia High School. He married Bettye Johnson on May 23, 1953 in Tulia. He served in the National Guard from 1948-1954. He worked for Rockwall Brothers Lumber Company and then in 1956 they moved to Oklahoma and he worked for Haliburton. He worked for 30 years before he retired as a field supervisor in 1986. They moved back to Tulia in 1987. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Tulia American Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Wesley McKone and two sisters: Nettie Johnson and Mae Brown. He is survived by his wife: Bettye McKone of Tulia, one son: Rodney McKone and Sharon Moore of Burns Flat, Oklahoma and one daughter: Sheila Dunn and husband David of Tulia, one brother: Charles McKone and wife Jessie of Tulia, five grandchildren: Corey Dunn of Tulia, Brett Dunn of Tulia, Bryan Dunn of Tulia, Bradley McKone of Coweta, Oklahoma and April McKone of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and 4 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 297, Tulia, Texas 79088 or to the Senior Citizens Center, 619 SE 2nd Street, Tulia, Texas 79088.
