Tulia, Texas—Alfredo C. Barrera, 88, died on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A rosary will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 pm Friday, May 7, 2021 at the funeral home.
Alfredo was born on October 3, 1932 to Francisco and Francisca Barrera in Bastrop, Texas. He farmed all his life, working as a farmhand for several farmers. He married Cecilia Cruz on May 23, 1969 in Swisher County. He retired as a farmer. Even after retirement he would work part time farming. He loved to spend time with family. He was a great pool player competing against his grandchildren. He would love to cruise around the country roads where he used to farm. He had a collection of knives and would tell lots of jokes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Celia Barrera, his son, Daniel “Danny B” Barrera one grandson, Gabriel Rocha and all his brothers and sisters, Benardo, Jesse Sr., Antonio, Manuel, Avaristo, Tomasa De La Cruz and Josefina Barrera.
He is survived by two daughters, Irma Rocha of Ft. Worth and Ermelinda Guzman and husband Sabino, Jr. of Tulia, nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
