Arleta Highfield, 84 of Plainview, Texas passed away on January 16, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas following a short illness.
She was born to the late Calvin and Berta Mae Hayes on July 28, 1934 in Lubbock, Texas graduating from West Texas University with a degree in elementary education in 1963.
Arleta is survived by her daughter Jacqueline and husband Mark Latham of Plainview; granddaughter Tristan Leigh Masto of Wolfforth; sister Elloise and husband Roger Messer of Memphis, Tx; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Denise and son-in-law Mike Masto; and brother Calvin Hayes, Jr.
She taught elementary and special education until retiring from teaching in 1991. After retirement she lived in Alabama for over twenty years traveling the northeast and southern states with a mobile propane tank testing business. Arleta was a doll artisan, molding and painting porcelain dolls, as well as, an avid collector of dolls. She was an inaugural member of the Southern Flames of Alabama Red Hat Society Chapter, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Arleta was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Services were held at The Chapel at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, Texas on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
