Barbara Ballenger (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Barbara Ballenger, 86, died on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 10:00 am in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Gabe Moudy, hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.

Barbara was born on June 8, 1934 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Lewis and Clara Mae Grossman. She attended schools in Guymon. Before graduating she met and married Jack Ballenger. They were married on July 6, 1952 in Clayton, NM. Jack joined the US Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. After living in San Diego, they returned to Tulia in 1961. Barbara was active in the Tulia community raising her sons and supporting Jack in his business of 53 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Jack Ballenger, died July 12, 2014 and a brother: Max Grossman.

She is survived by two sons: Bruce Ballenger and wife Monica of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Bryan Ballenger of Tulia, three grandchildren: Scott Ballenger, Shannon Gandy and husband Benjamin and Joel Cummins and one great granddaughter: Ember Gandy.
