Tulia, Texas-Barbara L. Watson, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at home in Edmonson, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Bob Colson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the funeral home.
Barbara was born on November 1, 1937 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Orville and Alyne (Huff) Otwell. She graduated from Tulia High School in 1957 and later attended Amarillo College of Hairdressing. She owned and operated Barbara’s Beauty Boutique for 22 years and the Cozy Cottage for 8 years. She also worked for the Swisher County and served as a Deputy District Clerk for 12 years. Barbara had an amazing singing talent and was invited to sing for the Arthur Godfrey Show in 1957 and inspired her twin brothers to sing. She loved to garden and work in her flower bed. She married Dennis Love on June 6, 1958 and he preceded her in death and she later married David Watson on November 27, 1997 in Tulia. Barbara will be remembered as the beautiful lady she was and will be missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Orville and Alyne Otwell; her first husband; Dennis Love and her brother; Von Dean Otwell.
She is survived by husband; David Watson of Kress, her daughter; Denise Harris and husband Jonathan of Dimmitt, her stepchildren; Teresa Carlisle and husband Bill of Amarillo, Shelly Crawford of Kress, Micheal Watson and wife Janet of Hale Center, two brothers; David Otwell and wife Leslie of Amarillo, Roger Otwell and wife Millie of Tulia, her niece and nephew; Rachel Bentley and Adam Otwell both of Tulia, her grandchildren; Jared Davis of Tulia and Macy Davis of Dimmitt and several step great grandchildren, her caregivers; Vonne Scarborough, Lori Simpson, Shelly Crawford and Yolanda Amaya.
