Becky Estes, 66, of Plainview passed away on December 21, 2020. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Northwest Church of Christ with Charles and Brian Mooney officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
Becky was born on December 18, 1954 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Morris and Dorothy Cecil. She grew up in Ft. Wayne but did live in Amarillo for a small time before returning to Ft. Wayne. She graduated from Elmhurst High School and then she went on to Nursing School at St. Joseph's hospital. She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 30 plus years and worked in many areas including labor and deliver, surgical nurse, anesthesiologist assistant, psychiatric nursing, one year as a prison nurse, one year as a school nurse at Olton I.S.D. where her children attended, and the rest of her career was mostly in Long Term Care which she found was her true calling, but she always put her family and LORD above all. She loved singing and enjoyed hymns and A Cappella gospel music and all types of folk music with harmonies and Celtic style as well, pretty much all music. She sang and worshiped her LORD everyday in song. She also loved to video chat with her granddaughter Becca and to color in coloring books. Becky was a very supportive person and was always encouraging people and offering support and advice through social media and texts. She was a longtime member of the Northwest Church of Christ. She was not born in Texas but always said she was Texan by choice.
Becky married Bennie Estes on June 30, 1979 in Plainview.
Survivors include her husband Bennie Eugene Estes of Plainview; daughter, Louisa May Stuart and husband Brian of Wichita Fall; son, James Daniel Estes and wife Jacqueline of Lubbock; 2 Brothers, Doug Cecil and wife Carole of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, David Cecil and wife Ivon of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Karen Stowe and husband Michael of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Paula Forbin and husband Dan of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and one granddaughter, Rebecca “Becca” Stuart of Wichita Falls. Becca was her delight and joy which kept her going even on her difficult days.
She was known for her love, generosity, and laughter that bubbled up like a fountain. The most common phrase describing her has always been sweet, gentle, kind soul with a Servant's heart.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Daniel Cecil.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Becky’s caregivers, Olga Balderas, Janie Perez, Stephanie Marshall, Elva Hipolito, Carol Katsikantamis, Rosa Perales, Lydia Polando, and the Staff of Area Community Hospice, Casey, Kristen, Tamra and the Hospice Aide Angels, Sandra and Annabelle.
