Betty Lou Martinez (Plainview)

Betty Lou Flores Martinez, 71, of Hale Center passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at her home. A Funeral Mass will be held on at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Hale Center.  Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A rosary will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.

Betty was born on September 27, 1947 in Slaton, Texas to Manuel and Antonia (Gradillas) Flores. She grew up in Slaton and later moved to Hale Center where she graduated from High School. She married Guadalupe Martinez in 1970 in Friona, Texas. Betty was a housekeeper for many years. She loved to dance, sew, and spend time with her family.   She really enjoyed listening to music including George Strait and The Hometown Boys. She was a long time member of the Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, and her sister, Chavela Martinez.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, Elizabeth Rangel and husband Michael, Mary Ann Castillo and husband Ramiro, Rebecca Gerhardt and husband Hector all of Hale Center; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; two brothers, John Manuel Flores of Hale Center, Rudy Flores of Amarillo; two sisters, Josephine Lucero of Hale Center, and Mary Lou Flores of Baltimore, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews and other family members.
