Bill Duncan (Plainview)

Bill's Video Tribute Bill Duncan, 91 years of age, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Plainview Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Friday, November 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Bill was born on July 21, 1932 to J Wade and Ferne Barnard Duncan on their farm in Mobeetie, TX. Bill was a graduate of Pampa High School and West Texas State University. He served in the army for 2 years. Bill married Katherine Smith and they had 3 children, Mark, Sarah, and Ann. Katherine lost a courageous battle with cancer after 28 years of marriage. Bill met and married Jenny Lou Ballard Hurt in 1983 and along with her 2 sons, David and Jeff, the family grew. Their marriage, 2 weeks shy of 40 yrs., has been a source of inspiration and a testament to the love and power of Jesus Christ. Bill lived in Pampa, Amarillo, and Plainview where he worked in banking, real estate, securities, and farming. Bill was a man who exemplified a steadfast and unwavering Christian faith. His deep-rooted faith in God guided his actions and decisions. Bill loved his family deeply and was a strong presence of love, wisdom, and commitment. He loved fishing, good music, serving his church family and the community. Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church his entire life. He used his gifts to serve in finance and leadership in every church he was involved in. He sang in several choirs and was involved in men’s ministry during his lifetime. He was also an active part of each community and served on several boards and civic organizations. Survivors of the beautiful family Bill and Jenny built together include their children, Mark Duncan and wife Diane of St. Elmo, IL, Sarah Houlette and husband Greg of Amarillo, Ann Levy and husband Alan of Laguna Beach, CA, David Hurt and wife Susan of Ransom Canyon, Jeff Hurt and wife Sondra of Carrollton. Ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, J Wade and Ferne Duncan, and two sisters, Angela Spearman and husband John, and Cynthia West and husband Bill. Memorials can be given to Plainview Methodist Church or your favorite charity or nonprofit.
