Bill Neal Eaves (Plainview)

Funeral Services for Bill Eaves, 95, will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 22, 2023 at First Baptist Church "Chapel" with Dr. Jacob West, lead pastor officiating. A visitation will take place in the parlor following the service. Mr. Eaves died at 7:30 A.M. Sunday, September 10 at Plainview Health Care. Burial will be at Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Billy Neal Eaves was born February 9, 1928 in Petersburg, Texas to Woody Woodard Eaves and Cora Belle Kent Eaves. He attended Petersburg High School. He and Geneva Doris Rippstein were married February 15, 1948 in Plainview. She died January 18, 2002. After high school, Mr. Eaves attended Lipperts Business College in Plainview and worked at the Plainview Daily Herald and Hale County State Bank. He was business manager of the Olton Memorial Hospital from 1952-1954 and the Medical Center Hospital of Plainview from 1954-1958. He and Joe H. Morgan became partners in the Morgan-Eaves Insurance Agency from 1958 to his retirement in 1992. Mr. Eaves was past president of the ABC Club that sponsored the Summer Boys Baseball program, Past President of the Plainview Independent Insurance Agents, elected to the Plainview City Council serving 2-terms from 1968-1972 and chairman of the Plainview Zoning Commission. He served on the Board of the Plainview Cemetery Association. In 2007, he was inducted into the Plainview Centennial Circle of Honor honoring those who have made a positive impact on the City of Plainview. Mr. Eaves was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1954 where he had taught a Youth Sunday School class. He had been an active member of the Pastor's Class. Mr. Eaves married Joanne Elizabeth McDonald Allen October 3, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Joanne, one son and a daughter-in-law, Cary and Sally Eaves of Plainview and three grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife Kristen Eaves of Plainview, Timothy and his wife, Lori of Ellerslie Georgia, Cary Catherine and her husband Ryan Ray of Highland Village, TX. 4 great grandchildren. Joanne's children, Linda Murphree and her husband Danny, Susan Allen, and Mark Allen. Her Grandchildren, David Murphree and wife Melissa, Trent Murphree and wife Emily, Dalton Allen and wife Meredith, Landon Allen, Brenan Allen, Dax Allen and wife Kylie. Her great grandchildren, Gracie, Hunter, and Daxson Murphree, Ella and Cole Murphree, Addie and Annie Allen, and brother, Bob McDonald The family suggest memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideons International.
