Billie Louise Lam was born on December 6th, 1930 in Oakland, Texas. She graduated from Pampa High School and then she married Carl Lam on May 8, 1949. They lived in Pampa and Denver, Colorado before settling in Plainview.
Billie was a stay at home mom to Russ, Belinda, and Mark until Carl was diagnosed with emphysema in 1975. She went to work as a teachers aide at Thunderbird Elementary and enrolled at Wayland Baptist University at age 45. She went to night classes and worked full time and completed her bachelors degree. Billie was known for her perseverance and strength as she did this while raising her family and caring for Carl. Carl passed away in 1986. After he passed away, she went back and got her Masters degree. She went to work at Lockney Elementary and worked until she retired at age 73.
Billie enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling and visiting. Billie never met a stranger that she didn’t walk away knowing their name and life history. Billie was very faithful in her Bible reading and attending church weekly.
Billie moved to Corpus Christi in 2016 where she resided until her passing.
Billie deeply loved her family, especially those grandkids, sweet tea, ice cream, rainbows and fishing. She told Blake lots of stories about the clouds in the sky and the birds flying around when she went fishing with him.
