Billy Wafer (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Billy Wafer, 65, of Dalhart, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Joe Gonzales officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Billy was born on July 8, 1958, in Plainview, to Celie and Clara Wafer. He grew up in Plainview and attended Plainview High School where he played football and was in the band. He married Carolyn Powell in 1980. After their marriage they moved to Tulia. Billy loved football. He loved to be a jokester wanting to put a smile on everyone’s face. He loved his family and his friends.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Clifford Wafer and two sisters: Elizabeth Wafer and Brenda Houston.

He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Wafer of Dalhart, his son: J’Mal Wafer and wife Chrystal of Dumas, his daughter: Kierra Gonzales and husband Daniel of Dalhart, two brothers: Robert Wafer of Plainview and Dennis Smith of Waco and seven grandchildren.
