Bobby Durwood McBeth was born in Knox City, Texas, on December 26, 1937, to James Sexton McBeth and Willie Lee (Bill) Brown McBeth. Bobby spent his time working various positions including farming and Ebeling Manufacturing (EMCO) from 1976-1986 and being an awesome Father and Grandfather. Bobby graduated from Hale Center High School and attended Texas Tech University and West Texas State University and was part of the ROTC and rifle club at WTSU. He was a lifetime member of NRA and NAACP and had been the county president for Hale County NFO (1972-1976) and national cotton coordinator during the same time. His main hobbies were flying (his Barron) and trap shooting and many others as well. Bobby was known for his humor and infectious smile and pranks and sweet kisses.
Bobby married Sue Evans McBeth on December 1, 2001, in Providence, Texas, and they had been married almost 22 wonderful years. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog Babe that he absolutely adored. He had a very special friend and neighbor Royce Carthel, whom he met in high school, that he would spend time farming and shooting the bull with most days.
Survivors include Sue of the home and children Sherry (Willis) Boyd of Spearman, Texas; Robert McBeth of San Antonio, Texas; Terri Henry of Amarillo, Texas; Wes (Linda) Henry of Amarillo, Texas; Stacey Crawford of Amarillo, Texas, and Monty (Susan) Crawford of Lakeway, Texas; sisters-in-law Judy McBeth, Bonnie Blair Shackelford, Karen Evans, Norma (Bill) Evans Stevenson, and brother-in-law Bob (Beverly) Evans grandchildren include Krista (Christian) Mericle, Amy Boyd, Nikki (Ryan) Miller; Tanitha (Marcus) Anderson, Kolton (Candace) Short, Skott Short, Selina Short; Kieffer (Adrienne) McBeth, Delina McBeth, Lance Henry, and Alyson (Brandon) Thornley, Erin (Rafael) Pena, Shane Crawford, and Glen Crawford, & numerous great-grandchildren that were his pride and joy. He is preceded in death by parents James & Willie McBeth, brothers Harold McBeth, David McBeth, and Kenneth McBeth, sister-in-law Jo Evans Parks, brothers-in-law Max Evans and Bill Evans, and a great-grandson Matthew Mericle.
A memorial visitation will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview on July 14, 2023 from 5 to 7 P.M. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
The family suggests memorials to the West Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, 555 E. 6th St., San Angelo, TX 76903 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 in lieu of flowers.
