Buster Harley Dorrough, 91, of Kress passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 in Plainview. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 17, 2023 in the Kress Cemetery with Will Fish and Gabe Moudy officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 5 P.M. at Kornerstone.
Buster was born on August 9, 1931 in Lookeba, Oklahoma to Gilford and Zella (Brewer) Dorrough. He was self employed and worked in Landscaping and the Nursery Business for many years. He loved the outdoors and the beauty of God’s Nature. He loved golfing, fishing, and sports of all his grandchildren. Buster held the state record for catching the largest Northern Pike fish for many years. He also got a hole in one, after many years of golf. For his 80th birthday, he was gifted a trip to the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Buster had a great love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris June Hughes Dorrough; daughter, Debra Lynn Dorrough Phillips; parents, Gilford and Zella Dorrough; three brothers, Donald, Tom, Gerald Dorrough; and two sisters, Audrey Keas and Juanita Tarver.
Buster is survived by his two daughters, Alanda Tomsu and husband Darrel of Kress, Cindy Jackson and husband Joel of Amarillo; grandchildren, Ryan Phillips of Lubbock, Jill Thornton and husband Jody of Lubbock; Toby Tomsu and wife Shonda of Olton; Holly Johnson of The Colony; Chelsi Welch of Austin, Trey Welch and wife Kendalyn of Victoria, Jason Jackson and wife Annette of Louisiana, Jami Bevins and husband Troy of Amarillo; 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Keeton of Colorado; and brother, Glen Dorrough of Oklahoma.
The family suggests memorials to the Kress Cemetery.
